The Center for Genomic Medicine was established to carry out genomic and omics research in three areas: (1) a field to conduct and manage high-throughput experiments (Genomic Informatics and Epidemiology), (2) a field of managing and operating large-scale omics data and epidemiology cohort data and link them to public databases (Genomic Informatics), and (3) a field to conduct (3) the field of statistical analysis research (Statistical Genetics).
Subsequently, in conjunction with the launch of the Kyoto University-McGill University International Collaborative Doctoral Program in Genomic Medicine, (4) the field of Biomedical Information Analysis (Super Global Course Medical and Life Sciences Unit) was added to strengthen the promotion of genome-omics research and education with McGill University.
These four fields come together in one place to integrate research and education under the integrated management of experimental output, its database management, and the computational environment.
The Center for Genomic Medicine also plays a central role within the Graduate School of Medicine in managing the Kyoto University-McGill University International Collaborative Doctoral Program in Genomic Medicine, which was launched in FY 2018.
