The department is an international joint degree program with McGill University, Canada, and was approved for establishment by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on November 9, 2017.
The joint degree program will promote high quality education and research that cannot be achieved by a single university, and will enable students to gain proficiency in various analytical techniques that utilize big data of life. The program will foster human resources who can contribute to the development of preventive medicine in the future by acquiring proficiency in various analytical techniques utilizing life big data.
The number of students admitted to the program is limited to 4 (2 students each from Kyoto University and McGill University, respectively).
